” SPINACH AND BACON QUICHE” This week’s “FRENCH FRIDAYS WITH DORIE” selection. FFWD is an online cooking group dedicated to Dorie Greenspan’s “Around My French Table”, her latest cookbook. http://www.doriegreenspan.com/ This quiche is a savory tart where flavors (smoky-bacon, sweet-onion and garlic, mineral – spinach, creamy-custard) converge, providing a tasty punch to your palate. An innovative twist to ingredients that works well. (If you substitute turkey bacon (I like Trader Joe’s uncured), use canola or grapeseed oil for your fat for the veggies.)

Luv that cookbook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Renee, Be sure to let me know what you make and enjoy. Remembering, of course, that you (and, Bobby) are the real chefs, I’m the novice.
Looks perfect! You can send over a slice, right? 🙂
I loved this quiche. Turkey bacon sounds good!
Spike – It changes the flavor a bit, of course, but, out of necessity, it is a good choice. I’d rather eat a little of something, with the most flavorful ingredients, than a bigger portion with a substitute. Sometimes, for medical purposes, that’s not appropriate for everyone. So, an alternative.
Hello, Free Spirit,
I am new to the blog also. Welcome! Your quiche looks scrumptious!
Kathleen
Welcome back to you, Kathleen. And, it was…….scrumptious, the quiche, that is. I think these French Fridays are going to be fun. I bought the cookbook when Dorie first published it but had only made (twice, in fact) the Chicken, Apples and Creme à la Normande (pp. 218-19) which is delicious.
I never thought of it that way, well put!
Welcome aboard! Hope you have fun with it – I think the FFwD group is a pretty great deal.
Thank you for a great post.
Welcome to French Fridays! I hope you’ll enjoy cooking with the group every week. This quiche looks great, btw!
Maya & other Dorie-disciples, Thank you for welcoming me to your Group. And, thank you, Oprah, for telling me about French Fridays. Had already bought the book but didn’t know about the Group until I read the article.
Your completed quiche looks really pretty! Glad your cooking and baking along with us. Nice to “meet” you and I look forward to seeing more of your posts.
Thanks for the intro to French Fridays! I will be looking for more posts from you!
Reached your blog post through Delicious. You know I will be subscribing to your rss feed.
Wow, thank you very much. If you keep reading, I will keep posting!
